Fighting Wolf

The most assertive of the Wolves, the Fighting Wolf enjoys activities that involve a challenge. He seeks to impose his will upon the world, so he’s the most strong-willed of all the Wolves.

Donnie Yen

At heart, he’s like Hercules, the hero who prevailed in a variety of dangerous situations. Donnie Yen, movie actor and martial artist, is a good example of this type.

His natural strength is making things happen.

The Fighting Wolf likes to test himself, and achieve things he finds important. The higher the stakes for success, the more exciting it is for him. He will take the initiative, and step into leadership roles as needed.

Because his masculine energy is intense, he may sometimes seem willful or controlling. But it’s this intensity that makes him such a powerful person. When times get tough, or trouble appears, he’s a man people turn to for help.

What matters most to him is taking action.

It’s in sports or in meeting some other kind of challenge where the Fighting Wolf feels most alive. The more intense he is, the more like combat his favorite sport or activity will be: rugby, football, MMA, etc.

He likes being in the gym, on a playing field, or engaged in some sort of non-athletic competition. He “gets in the game,” takes risks, and accepts the possibility of injury or defeat.

He’s energetic and assertive.

The Fighting Wolf will have penetrating eyes that can also convey friendliness, kindness, emotional warmth. He can be aggressive, but he can also be surprisingly gentle.

He likes to watch and/or play contact/combat sports like rugby and lacrosse, or head-to-head sports like wrestling and judo. He might say, “When I’m in the gym/on the field, I feel at home,” or, “I’m very disciplined.”

His intensity profile:

Masculine Feminine
High

Elevated

Moderate

Minimal

Subtype: Fighting Wolf Chief

Joe Schmidt

He’s a Fighting Wolf with feminine energy that’s slightly more intense than most men of this type. This equips him to take leadership roles, supervising other people and leading group efforts. He will form his own vision for a group, then work to enact it. Joe Schmidt, former coach of the Irish national rugby team, is a Fighting Wolf Chief.

More than most men, he understands what motivates other people, and cultivates productive relationships with them. Does that make him feminine? No. His aspect is decidedly masculine, and most people find him a strong, commanding presence.

Subtype: Fighting Wolf Mage

Alan Watts

He’s a Fighting Wolf with feminine energy that’s significantly more intense than most men of this type. This gives him abilities similar to those of the Dancing Fox Oracle. Alan Watts, who popularized Eastern thought in the West, was a Fighting Wolf Mage.

He uses his abilities in a different way than the Oracle. Whereas his female counterpart concentrates on the what aspects of the inner world, he focuses on the how: how the spiritual and material are related, how things work at a fundamental level, how to make that understood.
